I’m either ten months late or two
months early, because I’m making resolutions, and no one’s even
dropped the ball.
Well, that’s not entirely true. I
dropped the ball.
And when the ball drops, you just gotta
make some changes, even if it’s in the middle of November.
Last week, Chris went out of town on an
exotic business trip to the big city of Tuscon, Arizona where he
spent four luxurious days eating at the finest restaurants like
Applebees and staying in an opulent hotel called the Hampton Inn. He
enjoyed exclusive control of the remote and leisurely whine-free
dinners. “It’s not like I’m running off to Vegas with my best friend,” he jokingly reminded me before he left. Touche, jerk.
Meanwhile, back in Tijuana, I was home
with the boys. And losing my mind, I mean, my lists and stuff. And
when momma loses her lists, chaos ensues.
I forgot about show and tell, and that
made Benjy “sad.”
I forgot about Andrew’s 18 month
check up that I had just rescheduled from the last time that I forgot
about it. He’s 20 months old.
I remembered my own doctor’s
appointment, but I forgot the date and time.
And it all just spiraled from there.
The more I remembered, the more I forgot.
So I vowed to get better organized.
Google calendar wasn’t cutting it anymore. It was time to go old
school. I needed a day planner, and I needed it now.
Have you ever tried to buy a day
planner that starts in November? Or even to find a day planner that
starts earlier than January of the new year in the eleventh month of
the old year? It’s just about impossible to do. I guess there’s
just not much market for the procrastinator’s planner.
In the end, I persevered, even though
the first three times I went to a store, I forgot to look for one.
Shiny things distract me. Two more stores
and lots of digging later, I am the proud owner of a fuchsia student
planner. It’s not exactly what I had in mind, but it’ll do.
Now if I could just find a pen.
Hahaaha! I know exactly what you mean. I have been using my phone for this purpose lately. I can sync my calendar to my outlook calendar so that I always have everything there at my fingertips. I used to use Google calendar but it's a pain in the butt to sync with anything. Good luck with the planner!
ReplyDeleteI use the "reminders" app and I still manage to miss stuff and I only have two! My husband is leaving for Thanksgiving 4 days before I do and I'm sure that it will be complete and total chaos.
ReplyDeleteI use my iPhone calendar for everything. I sent 2 days reminders, and then 1 hour reminders. Since I started this, I have yet to miss something :-) It's the only way I can keep my crazy life organized!
