I woke up this morning to the sweet smell of coffee and cupcakes. It's
my birthday today, and Jacob did everything in his eight-year-old power
to make it special. He'd begun mixing the cake himself before Chris
found him in the kitchen cracking eggs and covered in flour. If he'd
been able to find the oil and measuring cups, he might have pulled off
the task unsupervised. You just gotta love a motivated and considerate
boy like that.
On top of that, I have been basking in the glow of the laptop as friends and family from around
the globe wished me well on my special day. It's fantastic that so many
people took the time from their busy lives to type me a message. Some
messages were simple, some were funny, but all were appreciated. I am
blessed to have such a wonderful group of friends and family.
It was a good birthday.
