This morning I stayed in bed until 7:15 a.m., surprised that no one had awaken me with crying or "dog pile on Mommy!" I took a long, luxurious shower with no one opening the shower door 27 times to play peek-a-boo with me. Then I painted my toe nails without defending the nail polish from curious fingers. And I blow dried my hair until it was completely devoid of any moisture, and no one tried to take my "gun" away from me.
Meanwhile, Chris got the boys ready for school.
Jacob told him, "Mommy always sends Koolaid to school for lunch, except that we're out." So Chris mixed up a pitcher of cherry Koolaid and filled Jacob's thermos to the brim.
Benjy told him, "Mommy always reads me stories during breakfast." So Chris sat and read Benjy two stories while his Cheerios went soggy. Then Chris spoon fed him the rest of his breakfast.
Andrew screamed and hurled a sippy cup at Chris's crotch, so Chris got him juice.
I think Chris finally began to suspect that something wasn't quite right with the morning routine when both Benjy and Jacob tried to convince him that Mommy doesn't make them brush their teeth every morning.
Of course, I don't really care if they ate Cocoa Puffs drenched in Koolaid and topped with whip cream and sprinkles while swinging from the chandeliers in nothing but a sweater vest and Star Wars underwear. I had a morning off.
But it's still fun to make fun of Chris. Sucker.
Oh, I SO miss being overseas and having kids go to school on Embassy days off!
ReplyDeleteI know it was so nice. It was almost like having a date with my husband--except for that pesky little guy we couldn't seem to lose.
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh so hard. Love it.
ReplyDeleteThe word I had to type to confirm my comment was "recess" :) Glad you enjoyed your time off.
