What's up, folks. This is Chris. I have a special announcement that I just had to make myself. We just found out where I will be heading for my next assignment with the State Department.
I am going to Kabul, Afghanistan, for an unaccompanied assignment in January of 2013. This is a great opportunity, and the jobs are very competitive, so we feel honored.
I know you may be wondering why we are doing this. Suffice it to say it was a serious, joint decision, and we have our reasons, which are personal, and may or may not include the following:
1. Kahki is my color and who can't use a few extra pockets? Cargo Khakis are awesome.
2. I love Kabobs. Grilled meat on a stick = delicious.
3. I wanted an excuse to grow a beard like the guys in ZZ Top or a handlebar mustache before Lisa could stop me.
4. Up until now, my fraternity house in college is the most disgusting place I have ever lived. I want to try to beat that. It was torn down in 2002.
5. It's one way to make sure I go further away from the U.S. than Ensenada, Baja California -- my current record.

6. Think of the frequent flyer miles I could earn.
7. I want to see if "blankets with holes" are as big a deal there as my mother told me.

Amazing. Levi told me yesterday. Of course now I have tons of questions like what is Lisa going to do but that's great. You'll be fantastic-

ReplyDeleteWell, we will miss the updates of your children dressing like Mexicans complete with 'staches, but congrats. I have a friend or two stationed there now, not sure if they will still be there in 2013, but if so, I'll let you know.
ReplyDeleteoh, we still have most of a year here in Tijuana to have some crazy shenanigans, and when we leave, we will just start to have posts of a different kind. Don't worry. The blog and our adventures aren't disappearing.
