Yesterday I thought this would never
happen -- Jacob
At least twice a month for the past
year, we have driven down a road here in Tijuana commonly dubbed
“Puppy Row,” where the “puppy pushers” dot the sidewalk every
Sunday. We would drive slowly down the right lane of the street,
oohing and aahing over the adorable puppy faces. No two trips were
ever the same, as the puppy merchandise varied by breed and number
every single drive.
Somehow we resisted temptation each Sunday by the
sheer reluctance to buy a puppy off the street, but we were not
completely immune to the big, brown eyes beckoning to us as the
vendors held them up, thrusting them towards our car, much like the
monkey did to Simba in the Lion King.
In the end, though,
this story really has nothing to do with Puppy Row, except perhaps
that all those little wet noses finally got the better of us.
Last week, Chris was blissfully walking
to the kitchenette for an afternoon cup of coffee, when a coworker
ambushed him with this picture.
This darling little guy needed a home.
He needed a family. And Chris needed to talk to me.
And now after four days and several
trips to the puppy store, we would like to announce that we have
joined the elite ranks of Foreign Service Pet Owner. Now we just
have to figure out how to get our new baby to our next post.
Awesome! What a cute little guy! :D
ReplyDeleteOMG, y'all are soooo lucky! He's adorable! Peanut wants to meet him. I know the boys are having the best Christmas ever!
ReplyDeleteI thought you were smarter than that. Oh wait...you ARE! I'm onto you. You just took this dog in to become eligible for the better housing options that pet ownership grants you in the foreign service. not bad... not bad at all. can i come visit you at your next post?
