The Halloween Compromise

Halloween may be about dressing up, but most of the fun for us is actually choosing the outfit and putting it all together.  As my regular readers know, last year we built a contraption that made Jacob look as if he were carrying his own head in a jar.

Until this year, Chris and I had left the costumes to the kids, but legend had it that the Halloween costume party at post should not be missed. Since this was the first in at least 8 years that Chris and I dressed ourselves up, we were pretty excited.  We started brainstorming ideas back in September, toying with the idea of a themed family costume.  The boys quickly squashed all hopes when they decisively declared what they were going to be for Halloween.  There would be no group costume, but that didn't mean that Chris and I couldn't have a couples costume.

As Chris started throwing out ideas like doctor and nurse, convict and warden, angel and devil, Hef and bunny, I noticed a recurrent theme: Chris wears pajamas; Lisa looks like trollop.  Quite frankly, that wasn't going to work for me, but I did have an idea of how I could make us both happy.

Big Bad Wolf (dressed as grandma) and Little Red Riding Hood

He never said they had to be men's pajamas, and I am totally rocking some sexy heels.

I'd love to hear your Halloween stories and costume ideas.  We'll be taking the boys' costumes for a trick-or-treating spin soon.  Stay tuned to see if Jacob keeps his head on this year.
