Another Thoughtful Gift

I missed Mother's Day with my mom. Actually, I've missed pretty much every holiday with my mom this year, so I felt like I should really make it up to her while she's in Tijuana visiting. I would impress her with a grand gesture that would show her how much I love and appreciate her. I needed something truly remarkable, and something that would make her forever treasure our special day together.

Something with pageantry and music. Something with men wearing tight clothes.

So, of course, I took my mom to a bullfight. What else would I do with her? Nothing says "I love you, Mom.  You're special to me," like watching a bull, nay, six bulls, get slaughtered.

I think I saw my mom brush a tear from her cheek as she was moved by my thoughtfulness (or pity for the bull). I know my mom will never forget this trip and her special day with me.  We shared a Coke, ate some pork rind, and expanded our vocabulary with the Spanish word "cabrĂ³n."

It was a magical day.  I love you, Mom.

  1. Whatever. I brought my mom to a "lucha libre gone wild" show (they fight in the mud...with tight pants on).
