A Movie Metaphor

You know the scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where Indiana finally reaches the grail room after his father's been shot, and he's managed to survive three death traps including a leap of faith, all with the enemy close on his heels?  He meets the super old knight that's been waiting for his dead brothers to return for a few centuries, and the knight tells him that he must "choose wisely" the cup that is the holy grail if he wants eternal life.

Then the Nazi woman picks the most ornate goblet and dips it into the water and gives it to the bad dude, and he drinks it and his hair starts to grow really fast and his skin starts to rot off his face and he starts screaming as he turns into a skeleton and then into dust.  Remember that?

Remember how the super old knight stands quietly by during the whole disgusting scene and doesn't flinch as if he sees bad dudes disintegrate before his eyes every day?

Most importantly, do you remember what the super old knight says?

"He chose... poorly."

That's what preparing for an unaccompanied tour feels like-- at least, according to my husband, who loves movie metaphors.

You chose poorly, Christopher.
