Yesterday I got my "official" offer from the foreign service. It contained my salary determination, at which I was pleasantly surprised. I had to sign it and fax it back asap. Now we just have to wait for our travel orders to be completed. Hurry up and wait? I thought that was supposed to be the Army, and anyway, we don't have time to wait, we have to be there in 1 month.
Also, we are trying to figure out how to sort our clothes to take with us to DC (assuming that no one jumps up and says, "fooled ya!") How do you pack for 2 adults, 2 small children, and an unborn baby for an indefinite period of time without access to the boxes of hand me downs that he currently have sitting in our shed? Not to mention all the questions about maternity clothes, and what toys to bring. At least I know that I will need my suits.
Basically, we have all this stuff to do, no idea how to do it, and we still haven't see anything concrete enough to convince us that this is really about to happen. As the title of this post says, "It feels real. Almost."
